Canada Summer Jobs

Every year, the Vietnamese Community Center of Mississauga receives funding to help Vietnamese university students gain experience while working with the non-profit organization. This year, VCCM received funding for two positions: Event Coordinator and User Support Technician.

Event Coordinator

  • Support the planning and execution of community programs and events including the youth talent show, annual picnic, senior group activities, and the Race Against Racism. The Event Coordinator works with staff and community partners on event logistics, develops promotional materials and schedules, assists with volunteer recruitment and training, manages on-site event operations, and contributes to post-event evaluations to strengthen future programming.

User Support Technician

  • Provide frontline technical support and maintain the organization's digital infrastructure. The User Support Technician troubleshoots hardware, software, and network issues for staff, maintains and updates the website and domain, coordinates audio-visual equipment for community events, offers informal digital literacy training to staff, and builds an internal knowledge base of common technical problems and solutions.

Canadian Citizenship

We are here to help you get your Canadian citizenship. At our community center, we offer many resources such as a book, guides, and websites to help your studies for the citizenship test. Furthermore, we are able to assist you in applying online and monitoring the status of your application.
Eligibility criteria for obtaining a Canadian Citizenship include:

    Math and English Tutoring
     

    Strengthen your fundamental math skills. Instruction is available for all academic topics including algebra, graphing, functions, and calculus. Learn and practice reading comprehension, essay and report writing and more. Classes are taught by university-level instructors.

    • Grades: 1-12
      Sundays, 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

    French Classes

    Learn the fundamental grammar, sentence structure, and basic words of the French language. Practice speaking, reading, and writing in French.

    Introduction to Daily Computing

    Explore the features of Windows and learn how to proficiently use your own computer. Learn how to use social media platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, or Twitter. Become familiar with creating Word documents, sending e-mails with attachments, or using search engines like Google.

    Integral Tai Chi (CK10)
     

    We welcome all members of all ages to join us every Wednesday and Sunday to adopt a more active lifestyle. Improve your health by practicing the art of Tai Chi.

    Dancing
     

    We offer classes for Line Dancing, Ballroom Dancing, and Latin Dancing. Register for fun classes! All ages and cultures are welcome. Come out and participate in community life at the cultural center.

    • Line Dance Advanced - Saturday 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
    • Vietnam Ballroom Dance - Saturday, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

    Vocal Training

    Learn to sing the way you always wanted. You will be instructed on basic techniques to improve your singing step by step. 

    • Advanced voice class - Sunday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 12:15 PM - 1:45 PM
    • Basic/Beginner voice class - Sunday 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM

    Traditional Vietnamese Music

    Ethnic musical instruments for all ages 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM. Learn how to play traditional Vietnamese songs. Instruments are not provided.

    • Monochord, Fiddlestring, Moonlute, and Pear shaped-lute - Sunday, 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
    • Zither - Sunday 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

    Guitar Class

    Classes are available to help you become proficient on the guitar. Learn to read musical notes and play popular tunes. Instruments are not provided

    The Vietnamese as International Languages Program (Weekend)

    Vietnamese as International Languages Program’s Announcement for the 2021-2022 school year:

    • Registration for Vietnamese as International Languages Courses is now open at Brampton locations. All parents are welcomed to register for your child / children.
